The purpose of this post is 50% a thanks for everyone I worked with this year and 50% designed to motivate me to get on with getting 2015 underway. I posted the roundup pic shown above on Instagram a few days ago with a probably unnecessarily long list of thanks so I won’t repeat them all here. High points though included getting a new album out, new vinyl releases, and working with some very talented people inc Algebra Blessett, Bilal, The Pharcyde and many more. If you want to read any more about that stuff, I did a little 2014 round up for Big Shot Magazine, which you can check out here (I’m not the girl with blonde hair whose picture appears next to my interview btw).
It was also a big year for WhoSampled and was great to work on some unique projects including the Samplethon digging expedition, producer event and release (coming February 2015 – watch this space). Also great to have lent my hand to the official James Brown soundtrack website among many other enjoyable projects.
Looking forward to 2015, I spent pretty much the last 3 months with my head down completing many ongoing projects, so I have a ton of music completed and due for release in the first half of 2015. I don’t want to blow the lid on everything but I have a new album completed for BBE and just waiting on the final sign off from the last of the featured artists as we speak. There’s also a full length album from Maylight produced by me completed and due for release toward the summer together with two singles featuring a host of fantastic remixes from some very talented producers. There’s a new vinyl release featuring Phill Most Chill in the bag and on its way, plus an EP with Chicago’s Pugs Atomz close to completion. Remixes have been completed for the Impellers in my So Much Soul guise, in addition to remixes for Renegades of Jazz (as Afro Concrete) and Renegade Brass Band. I look forward to sharing further details as and when I have them.
All the best for 2015!
