A labour of love which started life some years ago, the second part of this two part mix is long overdue. Part 1 of this mix was posted around a year ago and this was supposed to follow shortly after. Other projects overtook completing this, but I finally found a window to finish it off and get it out there. As per Part 1, the name gives a lot away here – a mix of the world’s funkiest drummers – 100 or so of Funk, Soul, Rock & Jazz’s finest breakbeats and licks in a 20 minute mix!
The subtitle ‘Crunkies Pick’ is a reference to Cut Chemist’s drum heavy ‘Bunky’s Pick’ cut up and J-Rocc’s similarly styled ‘Junkies Pick’ to which (along with Steinski’s seminal ‘Lesson’ edits) this is an homage of sorts. As with Part 1, a separate ‘drums only’ version will follow in the coming weeks.
