Chris Read

SUBSTANCE resident DJ & promoter 1995 to 2007 / BBC 1 Xtra mix show dj 2002 to 2004 / Different Drummer label project co-ordinator 1999 - 2001

Chris, a collector of hip hop, funk, soul, boogie and related beats and jazz based music since the late eighties, is best known for his abilities as club DJ through his involvement in Substance (one of the UK's longest running regular hip hop and funk nights) and his 2 year spell as mix DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra. However, it is Chris's broad musical taste and knowledge and ability to throw the unexpected into the mix that have sealed his reputation as a popular club DJ.
